Dr. H. Johnson

Board Member

Dr. H. Johnson DNP, MS, MS-Ed., ANP, RN has been a nurse for 26 years. Dr. Johnson is a professor and educator with professional and leadership experience in various facets of healthcare and academia. She worked as a certified mentor, certified trainer for cultural competency, and a National League of Nursing Ambassador. Dr. Johnson is passionate about volunteering and working with vulnerable populations. She has assisted with a health fair and walk-a-tons. “My favorite quote is by Oscar Wilde, he says, “The smallest acts of kindest is worth more than the grandest intention”. 

Dr. Johnson has been very instrumental in working with nurses who aspire for leadership roles. Her mission statement supports the vision of the Elite Community Foundation program where she vows to continue to serve her community for their betterment. Dr. Johnson was a volunteer on ECF’s Advisory Board from February 2020 to August 6, 2021. Dr. Johnson is the Director of Accredited Trainings, including the DASA Training Program.

Mrs. L. D. Powell

Board Member

Mrs. Powell is a retired health care worker and full-time volunteer. She is a distinguished public servant who was drawn to public service because of her work in healthcare and worked for 25 years as a certified paraprofessional. “This broadened my horizons, and caring for others became my life’s purpose. I count it as a privilege, knowing that caring for others is my passion. I strive to be compassionate and competent as I work with others”.

Mrs. Powell retired from healthcare in 2010 and started a ministry caring for the elderly in their homes. She joined GOGS Ministries in 2015 and had the opportunity to visit an overseas orphanage, hospital, and school; and work in various capacities with Sisters of Compassion in Jamaica doing from hands-on-care to arranging donations. Similarly, for 32 years, she was an active member in a local prison ministry. “I joined Elite Community Foundation (ECF) because of my love for those who need us the most. It is my honor to serve my community and others”.

Ms. Wright

Board Member

Ms. Wright is a retired health professional with several years’ work experience in various facets of healthcare.  With over 30 years’ experience in healthcare, Ms. Wright continues her work of services with individuals at Elite Community Foundation (ECF).   Among Ms. Wright’s many years of volunteer experience, she is a proud ECF volunteer since 2019.  Over the years, Ms. Wright has been instrumental with ECF’s onsite and offsite events in Brooklyn, Queens, Long Island, and overseas.  “Volunteering is important because when you help someone, you help the whole community”.   According to Ms. Wright,  “The world should be a better because of each person’s contributions.  I believe education and volunteer work is mandatory to create healthy communities.  I hope my contributions will enhance ECF’s success, empower minorities, uplift the underserved, and assist with meeting ECF’s mission and vision.  It is great to serve my community and this organization”.
