Session Focus: Better Choices, Brighter Futures: Skills for Healthy Communities
Two Engaging and Interactive Learning Sessions
ECF Wellness and Safety™ March 2026 workshops examining substance misuse and food attracted an impressive attendance on March 2 and 26. We garner 101 in total attendance. Participants completed our interactive training where they learnt how to identify hazards and select the correct protective actions, turning routine safety knowledge into memorable, high-energy sessions.
All Eyes were on Substance Misuse on March 12, 2026
On March 12, an important ECF event brought together parents, guardians, school staff, and anyone working with children to tackle children and youth substance misuse. The goal was simple but powerful; to equip everyone with the knowledge, skills, and tools they need to identify early warning signs, understand the risks for children and youth, and interventions or actions to prevent issues before they start. Since children and youths are especially vulnerable to peer pressure, curiosity, and their environments, having informed and confident adults by their side makes all the difference in guiding them toward healthier choices and providing support when it’s needed most.
Our workshop provided a platform to for more than reacting to issues; this session was about getting ahead of them. This training encouraged a proactive approach, helping adults create safe, supportive spaces where children and youth feel comfortable communicate their needs. The aim was to give everyone resources to respond comprehensively and confidently to any concerns related to substance misuse. What’s more exciting is that this kind of training isn’t a one-time thing. Ongoing professional development and collaboration among families, schools, healthcare providers, community groups, and organizations like JTA and QAM are key to building a strong support network. This event showed ECF’s commitment to protecting our children’s futures, creating healthier communities, and helping young people reach their full potential and free from the dangers of substance abuse.
Food was Center Stage on March 26, 2026
Knowing what is in the food we eat is more important than ever, and training on this topic has made a lasting impact and difference for everyone in attendance. On March 26, a practical and eye-opening session was held to raise awareness about how ingredients in our food can impact our health. Stay healthy, understanding how to read labels and identify ingredients empowers our learners to make smarter choices and protect themselves and their loved ones.
This session went beyond theory by providing real-time strategies to confidently provide and prepare healthy foods. Participants practiced identifying important information with real-world examples of common products. The session also featured hands-on activities to help our attendees understand what to look for when shopping. These practical skills enable community members to make healthier selections every day. The workshop emphasized that food influences growth, development, and overall well-being. Knowing what’s in their meals helps parents and caregivers make better choices for their families. By increasing awareness and teaching practical skills, ECF is encouraging communities to become more informed, healthier consumers.
